STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING PROJECT PROFILE

Columbia Gardens Apartment Complex, Cohoes, New York

The project consisted of the design of two 26,000-square-foot, two-story, 24-unit residential apartment buildings, located in Cohoes, New York. Each building contains eight three-bedroom units, eight two-bedroom Type A units, eight two-bedroom Type B units, an electrical service meter room, a sprinkler room and a site maintenance storage room. The 12 first-floor apartments located in each building allow for conversion into fully accessible units for individuals with physical disabilities. The second-floor apartments have cathedral ceilings in the living-dining areas. Each apartment also contains a private entry, exterior patio/balcony, full kitchen, full bath and a master bedroom suite with sleeping area and second private bathroom.

C.T. Male Associates, P.C. provided full architectural, structural design and preliminary mechanical, plumbing and electrical design services. In addition, C.T. Male also provided surveying services, site engineering services, stormwater management and geotechnical evaluation. The owner obtained the services of a construction manager/general contractor to complete the design of the plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire alarm and automatic fire sprinkler systems.
