The Village of Mayfield wastewater collection and treatment plant project began in 1990 with the identification of areas within the Village that needed to be served. Alternative collection and treatment systems were developed and costs estimated. Gravity collection and a sequencing batch reactor treatment system were chosen and have been designed and constructed. The project includes approximately 19,000 feet of gravity sewers, approximately 200 feet of low-pressure force main with grinder pumps, manholes and service laterals. Construction of the sewage treatment plant and associated building and structures involved filings of and impact to wetlands in a Hamlet land use area as a Class A Regional Project and a regulated wetlands activity pursuant to APA Act Section 810 (1) (a) (1) and 9 NYCRR Part 578.5, respectively. Permit application was made to the APA on August 11, 1998, and the permit was received on October 10, 1998. Permit application was made to the Corps of Engineers (COE) in September 1998 and the permit was received March 1999. Full-time construction oversight was provided, and the project was completed in April 2001.
