C.T. Male designed a new 6,500 SF, one-story, multi-purpose building to replace the Town’s existing recreational facility.  The original steel framed and metal sided building had outgrown its usefulness, and repairs to its façade and proposed additions and modifications to its mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were determined by C.T. Male to be cost prohibitive.

The construction of the new facility, which is designed utilizing a “Morton Building” pre-engineered timber column building system to maximize the life-cycle cost performance of the facility, includes economical amenities to meet the programming needs of the Town.  A masonry veneer wainscot, Kynar-coated steel hi-rib siding and roof to match the existing architecture of the community will be provided.  The existing structure was situated between an existing community pool, ball field and parking lot.

The recreational facility was constructed in accordance with the community’s desire to provide a low maintenance, low energy consumptive building.

In addition to the architectural design, space planning and building systems engineering, C.T. Male also provided guidance for NYSERDA review and implementation of energy savings features, such as the installation of  “environmentally-friendly,” energy efficient Geo-Thermal Systems.
