We have a full time opportunity for a Geotechnical Services Team Leader in our Latham, NY office. This position will be responsible to manage and direct geotechnical engineering services offered by the firm, provide support to Building Systems, Land Development, Environmental Services and Civil Engineering Groups and perform project management responsibilities for standalone geotechnical and dam projects.

The successful candidate will:
Supervise, coordinate and review work of geotechnical staff within the Civil Engineering Division. Assist the Vice President – Civil Engineering in the hiring of staff and their performance evaluation. Mentor geotechnical staff; providing explanations of technical and constructability issues, QA/QC comments of reports, and required communications with clients and/or contractors. Conduct site visits with geotechnical staff to review site conditions exposed by construction, construction means and methods, job site safety issues of C.T. Male personnel, and conformance of work with design intent and project specifications.

Keep abreast of continuing education programs and software which would benefit the geotechnical services offered by C.T. Male and recommend to the Vice President – Civil Engineering those programs and software that should be attended/purchased and a schedule for the same.

Market geotechnical and dam engineering services to new and existing public and private sector clients. To develop business opportunities in the areas of dam engineering/consulting services and technical support of contactor submittals for earth support systems, minipile foundations and other specialty geotechnical contracting services.

Education/License Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (B.S., PE minimum) from a four-year college or university and preferably a Masters Degree with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering. Minimum 15 years relevant experience with geotechnical engineering. Must hold and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license. A NYS Professional Engineer license is required.

Construction Observer

The position will provide field and related office services on construction projects as a representative of the firm.

The position requires familiarity with:

  • Construction survey procedures.
  • Establishment of line and grade for construction.
  • Method of various means of transfer of line and grade.
  • General utility construction (water, sewer, drainage, roadway).
  • Determination of pipe capacities, velocities and slopes.
  • Local, State and Federal laws in regard to environmental health regulations, and construction standards.
  • Local, State and Federal laws in regard to labor standard.
  • Standard details and construction specifications of the firm.
  • Project recordkeeping for preparation of a certification report to include daily reports, panel placement, daily test seams, manufacturer’s certification, destructive and nondestructive testing.
  • Familiarity with traffic control and OSHA protocol.

Water/Wastewater Project Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Function as a project manager for water and wastewater treatment.
  • Monitor production and cost containment procedures
  • Oversee the scheduling of projects and staffing for assigned projects
  • Maintain a budgeted production rate
  • Collaborate with the Vice President, Civil Engineering, Project Management and Marketing Director to carry out the Business and Marketing Plan
  • Develop and maintain a client base
  • Maintain P.E. license in New York state, and acquire professional engineering licenses in other states as requested

Job Summary
Provide energy analysis and engineering services on projects assigned by the Energy and Building System Services Division Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Independently or with minimal supervision, perform building energy audits/surveys; identify Energy Efficient Measures (EEM’s); develop and perform energy & cost savings, estimated cost to implement and simple payback.  Perform energy savings estimating using spreadsheet analysis, bin-hour analysis, or other similar tools.  Maintain proficiency with eQuest, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP and/or other energy estimating software packages to determine energy savings for more complex systems or from a whole building analysis.  Benchmark buildings against published data (CBECS, MECS) and US EPA Portfolio Manager.  Develop cost estimates for implementation of EEM’s based on published data (RS Means) or vendor quotes.  Read and interpret customer utility bills and enters data into third party software for tracking and analyzing.  Coordinate with utility/NYSERDA energy services programs, for incentives available to clients.  Assist in/perform code research, to determine latest code requirements to be followed.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university accompanied with participation in the Industrial Assessment Center program or equivalent related experience and/or training; with a minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience.

We have a full time opportunity for a Senior Managing Environmental Engineer in our Latham, NY office. This position will be responsible for providing engineering services and technical support for projects assigned by senior and managing engineers.

The successful candidate will be:

Highly knowledgeable of the various USEPA and NYSDEC environmental regulatory programs; including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, solid and hazardous waste programs, environmental auditing, and petroleum and chemical bulk storage programs. Additional experience in water and/or wastewater treatment plant design, and/or with the environmental regulatory programs of other Northeast states preferred.

Responsible for direct client contact and interaction, development of project scopes and fees, and implementation of project work scopes within the prescribed timelines and budgets. Responsibilities will include providing client representation and interaction with various federal, State and local regulatory agencies, as necessary.

Education/License Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in environmental, chemical or civil engineering and 10+ years experience in providing environmental and health & safety regulatory compliance and design services for institutional, industrial and governmental entities. The successful candidate will be able to: prepare foundation plot plans from field notes and subdivision maps; prepare subdivision maps along with plan/profiles; prepare boundary and topographical maps; plot inverts, elevations and stationing; compute earthwork volumes; and be strong in layout and balancing data on map; drafting versatility for both survey and land development.

Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must have a thorough knowledge of AutoCAD. Civil 3D experience preferred. Ability to work with Point Clouds, prepare 3D modeling and operate microstation is preferred.
