Asbestos Project Monitor

We have multiple opportunities for Asbestos Project Monitors in the Capital Region to work on asbestos abatement projects. These positions will provide on-site representation during asbestos abatement activity at a variety of sites, will collect air samples during abatement activity, will monitor Contractor activities and will provide daily documentation of project progress.

The ideal candidates must be NYSDOL certified and trained as a NYSDOL Project Monitor/Air Tech with one or more years of experience. Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations (NYSDOL ICR-56). MS Office experience a plus. Must have excellent record keeping skills. Valid driver’s license required.

Male Associates is seeking to hire a Geotechnical Services Team Leader at our Albany, NY headquarters; this full-time position offers unlimited potential for advancement, including project management, mentorship programs, a complete benefits package and firm ownership opportunities. As a Geotechnical Services Team Leader at C.T. Male, you will be responsible for managing and directing geotechnical engineering services offered by the firm, performing project management responsibilities for standalone geotechnical and dam projects as well as providing support to the firm’s many technical divisions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coordinate and review the work of geotechnical staff within the Civil Engineering Division.
  • Assist the Civil Engineering Division Manager in the hiring and evaluation of staff.
  • Mentor junior geotechnical staff, helping to develop their leadership and client engagement skills
  • Provide explanations of technical and constructability issues.

  • Keep abreast of continuing education programs and software that would benefit the geotechnical services offered by the firm and those programs and software that should be attended/purchased and a schedule for same.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of twenty (20) years relevant experience with geotechnical engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S., PE minimum) from a four-year college or university and preferably a Masters’ Degree with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • A NYS Professional Engineer license.
  • A valid NYS driver’s license.

  • Function as a project manager for water and wastewater treatment, water distribution and storage related projects.

We are seeking experienced Construction Observers for upcoming projects in Middletown and Newburgh, NY. These full-time positions offer potential for advancement, skills development, and a full benefits package.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Observe and document the amount and type of work completed by the contractor.
  • Document that the contractor is using the approved products and materials.
  • Document the equipment and labor used by the contractor.
  • Document issues and obstacles encountered by the contractor. Coordinate with the contractor’s superintendent to monitor the progress of the work.
  • Use reasonable efforts to enforce the contractor to keep accurate field measurements and produce accurate “red-lined” record drawings.
  • Provide sufficient observation and documentation so the Engineer of Record can certify that the work has been completed in general conformance with the approved construction documents.
  • Coordinate testing services on the project site.
  • Perform project recordkeeping for preparation of a certification report to include daily reports, panel placement, daily test seams, manufacturer’s certification, destructive and nondestructive testing.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Technology program or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or a minimum of five years of directly relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws regarding environmental health regulations, construction standards, and labor standards.
  • Familiarity with the following: construction survey procedures, establishment of line and grade for construction, method of various means of transfer of line and grade, general utility construction (water, sewer, drainage, roadway), determination of pipe capacities, velocities and slopes, and traffic control protocol.
  • OSHA 10-Hr Construction training is preferred.
  • A self-motivated problem solver.
  • A willingness to perform a minimal amount of travel within New York State in support of project activities.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead professional/Project Manager for select clients and term agreements to ensure quality products.
  • Negotiate contracts, prepare proposals and manage financial and technical aspects of projects.
  • Develop sound Scopes of Work in accordance with the clients’ requirements.
  • Exercise leadership and motivation within the project team to ensure good performance by all members.
  • Provide technical and professional consultation on Firm projects involving survey issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying and/or a minimum of 10 years of experience with Survey Project Management.
  • P.L.S. required, preferably from New York State. If P.L.S. is held in another state, must have the ability to become licensed in New York within one year.
  • A thorough knowledge of all types of land surveys.
  • Complete knowledge of the purpose and procedures for field and office work regarding surveys.
  • Ability to effectively use GPS, total stations and robotic total station survey equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Boundary Law while performing boundary surveys.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • May be required to be certified to work on hazardous waste projects.

As a Crew Chief in Training at C.T. Male, you will be responsible for boundary, topographic, utility, and construction survey work. You will also perform surveys for property and right-of-way determinations and for establishing and maintaining benchmarks and monumentations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be an expert at performing the duties of an Instrument Operator and be willing to instruct a crew in any of those duties and requirements.
  • Have a full working knowledge of Boundary Law.
  • Closely manage and direct an Instrument Operator engaged in making field surveys, using survey notes, maps, deeds, plots and plats, property lines, subdivision monuments, etc.
  • Verify the accuracy of measurements taken by your crew; keep accurate records, notes, and sketches of the work performed.
  • Prepare, practice and execute all Health and Safety Procedures, for yourself and all employees under your supervision, as per the firm’s policies.
  • Secure information from Public Corporations, Government Agencies, and other surveyors, including deed research.

Requirements:

Male, you will be responsible for boundary, topographic and construction surveying. Frequent travel with some overnight stays is a key component of this position. The ideal candidate will have experience using robotic total station, data collectors and GPS.

  • Valid NYS driver’s license.
